Military Community Ministry, also known as Mil/Com Ministry, is a ministry of Great Bridge Community Church and is committed to sharing God’s love with the military community. This ministry is currently led by Pastor Mike Dingman who has touched the lives of countless Soliders, Sailors and Marines over the years by coming alongside Military Chaplains to support their outreach and ministry efforts on local bases including Norfolk Navy Station, Joint Base Little Creek/Fort Story and now Joint Base Oceana Naval Air Station/Dam Neck Annex.
Past ministries have included a visitation ministry at Norfolk Naval Station’s NMPS (Navy Mobilization Processing Site for injured Sailors); Coffee House Ministry, Barracks Cookouts, Discipleship ministry and Bible Studies at Little Creek Amphibious Base, and a hospitality ministry by providing rooms to Christian Sailors who had a desire to live off base in a Christian environment.
Currently Military Community Ministry is focused on ministering to Sailors and Marines at the Dam Neck Annex in Virginia Beach where Pastor Mike helps lead a Bible Study on Sunday afternoons, and then participates in a Contemporary Worship Service which follows the Bible study. He also leads two Good News after school clubs during the School year at elementary Schools in Virginia Beach near the Little Creek Amphibious Base as both schools have a high concentration of children from Military families.
Mil/Com Ministry is supported entirely by designated gifts received by Great Bridge Community Church for that purpose. These gifts cover ministry supplies, travel expenses and financial support for Pastor Mike in the form of salary/housing allowance.
